This advice is highly recommended if your laptop has full battery. If you do not want to shorten the lifespan of your laptop's battery, you'd better remove it otherwise just remain it intact and let your laptop charge without using it.
The reason why I advise it is because when you use your laptop while it is plugging in your outlet, your laptop uses the power from electricity and bypasses its battery. It can cause severe damage to the battery. So better drain it out first before you plug it and let it charge. Or if you can't wait, remove the battery and plug in your laptop to the socket.
The only danger you have to consider is it is prone to power loss due to blackout/brownout and all your works will be loss. Also your laptop may not work properly upon starting. So always put these things in mind. :)
