What is a Blog?

Literally web logs or blogs are online journals whose updates are frequent, sometimes even daily. Although some do not consider blog as having a definition other than the sense of what is stated, other more flowery definition of blog as written by some on the internet define blog as: “hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser,” or “a frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links.”

Based on the word itself that is blog, people who blog are generally called “bloggers”. Blogs in a form of an update, also called as an entry or a post, may appear as short as a few sentences or as lengthy as a few paragraphs of words and sentences of which readers can respond to. Bloggers call themselves and their blogs the blogosphere.

One need not have to be a professional writer to be a blogger. In fact, not all bloggers do blogging for a living. Some do so to leave a journal of their experiences in the internet for others to read and respond to, which the blogger responds to back. Blogs are often written in an informal manner making even a novice to blogging generate much readers.
