- Jose Rizal was a functional writer. He did not write to amuse or entertain his readers, but to educate; awaken and develop their social and political consciousness. Thus it is noted that the Noli Me Tangere and the El Filibusterismo have tragic endings; a proof that Rizal wanted reader sympathy for the desirable characters in the stories.
- The question of writing in more or less literary style is secondary; the principal thing is to think and feel rightly, work with a purpose, and the pen will take care of transmitting it. The principal thing that should be demanded from a Filipino of our generation is not to be a literary man, but to be a good man, a good citizen, who would help his country to progress with his head, his heart, and if need be, with his aims.
- But there are some who still pursue and keep what Jose Rizal valued. And as a matter of fact, those things he stressed are truly important until now. We can learn from our history and past written works. So as not to reinvent the wheel or rediscover the things already happened.
- Why is "Mi Ultimo Adios" considered as the "last will and testament" of Jose Rizal?
- Because he expressed his life while living in this world,
- If our country demanded us to die for a good cause, we should offer our lives,
- He wants us to remember all people who gave their lives for the country,
- He wants us to pray for other people's welfare after claiming the redemption,
- He also wants others to remember his works if others forget him during at needed times,
- He wants no oppressors to reign the country but only God the sovereign Lord,
- He also wants everyone to be free from being slaves and act wherever they may be but value others' feeling and condition.
Heto pala yung isang naisalba at nahanap ko pa, "Ang Pagkamartir sa Bagumbayan"
