My first credit card was from HSBC bank which I got in year 2010.
Having a credit card is not bad at all just like what other people were saying. It all depends on how people use it. If they use it without minding how much their available credit limit is, chances are they might exceed it because they swipe it whenever they do shopping.
Remember that the reason why we get a credit card is because we don't want to carry cash when going outside like malls. It's like a real cash, but the only difference is you borrow money to be used as payment for the things and services you want.
You should also be responsible for paying your monthly bills before your due date and as much as possible pay your balance in full amount to avoid getting interest charges/fees. Most of the banks impose 3.5% in your remaining balance every month. That's a big interest if for example you have a 100,000 remaining balance. 3.5% of it is 3,500. So think about it and consider my advice.
Again, having a credit card in my opinion is a must and not bad at all. It all comes down on how we use it, benefit from it and take full advantage of it. So don't be afraid of it and don't run away whenever you see some people holding a bag of treats or an umbrella, approaching you and asking if you already have a credit card. If you want to get a credit card quickly, that's where you should go as I assure you 70% or above, your application will get approved. Just don't forget the requirements I listed above.
